Benefits of Brunch

Brunch… possibly the most iconic and exciting meal of the week. You get together on a Sunday morning with your friends to gossip, order obnoxious amounts of delicious food and drinks at 11am.  There couldn’t be anything better… could there be? What if there was a place that served brunch all day, EVERY day? We think that could make it better.

A personal favorite of the Committed Pig team, brunch is possibly the most anticipated meal of the week… so we thought – why restrict it to only one day? Our team decided to take this amazing mealtime and turn it into our everyday menu so you don’t have to wait for Sunday morning to get your fix. You could come in on a Thursday night for a “backwards day” with the kids and have brunch for dinner, or on your lunch break on a Tuesday with your coworkers.

In addition to being the best meal to exist, did you also know that brunch has lots of benefits to your health?

Let’s start with the fact that the traditional Sunday brunch is later in the day, made for those lazy weekends with the family or friends. Brunch was kind enough to give you those extra few hours of sleep, which brings us to our first point: Getting a full night’s sleep is beneficial to us in thousands of ways, but the ones relevant here are mostly maintaining your weight and assisting in weight loss. According to a study done with Healthline, sleep loss has been shown to affect the secretion of cortisol, a hormone that regulates your appetite. As a result, individuals who lose sleep may continue to feel hungry despite adequate food intake. Another reason you’re gonna want to sleep in this weekend is that “lack of sleep” is the leading lifestyle factor contributing to periodontal disease other than smoking cigarettes (#funfacts) (@Healthline). So sleeping in before brunch is probably one of the most important parts of your schedule if you aren’t getting a full night’s sleep during the week.

On a diet and worried about what to order? Luckily brunch is one of those occasions that you have tons of options to choose from.  We at the Committed Pig don’t really believe in diets, we live by the #piglife motto… But we are aware that isn’t everyone’s lifestyle choice. There are many options for those trying to watch what they eat.  Items like the Breakfast Burrito and the Breakfast Bowl are just two choices for our health-conscious guests.  Both are fantastic and healthy options to include in your brunch.  Not only are they good for you, they are incredibly photogenic for your Instagram feed #healthybrunch.

Now, everyone likes to have their time alone having pancakes on their couch on a weekend. But it’s nowhere near as exciting as getting out and having brunch with your friends, catching up on the week gone by and socializing, because as good as it is to have some you time, it’s even better to be around people. Being around those you care about increases brain activity and can help you to be more productive during the work week (@Healthline).

If the food wasn’t reason enough to join us for brunch, these should only add to the argument that you have to get brunch as soon as possible. So, stroll on over to your local Committed Pig location and get your brunch on – and you don’t need to wait for Sunday to do it!
